A bench of Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud and Justice Hima Kohli revealed the same while hearing a petition seeking setting up of an online RTI portal for the apex court.

The Supreme Court on Friday said that it will soon roll out an online portal which can be used by public to file applications under the Right to Information Act (RTI Act) in relation to the apex court.

A bench of Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud and Justice Hima Kohli revealed the same while hearing a petition seeking setting up of an online RTI portal for the apex court.

“I spoke with the officers. RTI portal is ready and will be rolled out soon,” said CJI Chandrachud.

The Court, therefore, disposed of the plea filed by one Akriti Agarwal in view of the fact that the grievance raised has been addressed.

“The online portal to streamline responses of Supreme Court under RTI Act is ready for being unveiled. Thus grievance in the petition is duly met,” the Court said in its order.

Recently, the Supreme Court had dismissed a similar plea seeking online RTI portal for the top court.

Presently, RTI applications to the Supreme Court have to be filed physically through post office.

This situation will be remedied once the online portal becomes functional.
