After Kerala, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, the Zika virus has spread to Delhi too. The first case of the mosquito-borne illness was confirmed at Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital recently. Sources told TOI that a 61-year-old man from Shadipur in northeast Delhi was admitted to the hospital with fever and muscle pain in November last week. A random screening of the person’s serum, urine and throat swab samples by RT-PCR at the hospital’s virology lab detected the presence of Zika virus RNA in it.
